My mom's side of the family all gathered for Thanksgiving this year at my Uncle and Aunt's house in Salinas. We arrived on Thursday early afternoon to a house void of the smell of cooking turkey. There were no dishes in the sink nor anything cooking on the stove. Everyone was asking "what are we doing for food?". While waiting around, we started to entertain ourselves with hitting golf balls over my uncle's back fence into the open space. Riley truly enjoyed this!
We also took a family picture for my parent's Christmas Card (see below). It was SO fun to have Brad (far left) back with us from Seattle!
About an hour after everyone arrived, a party/limo bus pulls up in front of the house and my Uncle tells everyone to get on. The bus nearly hummed with excitement as we all climbed aboard and the bus took off... for where? Noone knew.

The bus took us into Monterey and to a restuarant called Jack's, inside the Portola Hotel. We had a private room with a full meal prepared just for our family (almost everything was gluten free). My Aunt is a nutritionist and the Executive Chef at Jack's has been a client of hers for 20+ years. It was a such a treat to have such delicious food and fun environment! After dinner, we retired to a portion of the hotel bar (which was reserved for us) and had dessert while watching the 1st half of the football game. The bus then took us home at halftime so that we could catch the end of the game from the comfort of my Uncle and Aunt's home.
The entire evening was truly delightful!!
Thank you Uncle Bill and Aunt Dana for such a fun and surprising Thanksgiving!!
